Frequently Asked QuestionsQ. Do the trainees get a qualification? A. Daniels Associates is a Registered Training Organisation. The certificate courses we deliver, including certificate II, III and IV qualifications are nationally recognised and are also government funded. Q. Some of our staff are limited in English or have learning difficulties. Will they be able to do the course? A. We are used to dealing with this and overcome this in several ways. By making training practical and fun, by having simple training manuals, by identifying those who need extra help, and by having more than one assessment method. Our trainers will help any of those that need extra assistance without embarrassment to the trainee. Q. Are there any out of pocket expenses? A. We have not had a single customer that has had an out of pocket expense. Should a trainee drop out at any stage, the employer is not charged for additional training. We do not charge a fee unless or until you receive funding. We recommend that trainees are paid for the time they spend in classroom training. The funding you receive well and truly more than compensates for the cost of paying trainees. Q. Where is training held? A. Training is held at your site, so as to minimise the impact on staff rosters, your on-costs and time. Q. Some of our staff are coming up to retirement and probably won’t be interested. How do you get the trainees interested? A. We find that some staff love the idea of training, while others are not interested. We find that if we help you address the staff before sign up, we can often address their concerns and get them interested. Once they start, they usually enjoy the training and don’t drop out. When they receive their certificate they are quite proud of their achievement. Once one or two sessions have occurred, often other staff ask if they can join the group! Q. What is the training schedule? A. Training delivery is flexible and we develop session times and day to suit you. Only 3 hours once a month for approximately 8-11 sessions is all that is required of off-the-job classroom time. A different training delivery can be arranged if preferred. Q. Do I pay anything up-front? A. No. You do not pay us anything until your funding has been received. Q. Are we charged for anyone who drops out? A. Should someone drop out – we do not charge for that trainee. You only pay us where you receive funding. (We have never had anyone drop out except for other unrelated circumstances). Q. My time is limited. How much of my time will the program take up as the supervisor? A. Once the trainees are signed, there is very little administration on your part. The Daniels Associates trainer does all the assessments, and administration. You will be required to put in the two claim forms. Q. What about staff who don’t qualify for funding. Can they still do the course? A. You may wish to include staff members that haven’t qualified for funding. To make it easy for these employees to be included, we offer training for them at a substantially reduced rate, and is not payable until funding is received for the other staff. Non-funded staff can usually be included without costing you anything as they are paid for out of the funding from the eligible staff. Some non-funded trainees can usually be included without it costing you anything. Q. Do you do Multi-skilling? A. Yes. Many of our customers have flexible staff arrangements and prefer the option of multi-skilling. For example, training staff across cleaning, laundry and food support subjects. Q. We tried it before and it didn’t work out. A. That’s unfortunate. There are many reasons this may have happened. That’s why we offer quality and fun training that trainees enjoy and look forward to, drop-outs are minimised and where there is no funding, there is no fee. Q. When is the best time to get started? A. We can start anytime you are ready at any time of year. Allow for about 4-6 weeks for training to get underway after sign up. |
